About
How We Work
Our VPK Teacher and Director has taught in both Orange and Seminole County teaching students with and without disabilities since 2005. She has experience working with children from preschool to 15 years old.
Bearwood's toddler teacher is very caring and nurturing. She has taken additional academic training through the TeachStone program with the Early Learning Coalition. She truly enjoys watching the children grow emotionally and academically.
Our style is to be led by the children. We are always prepared with standard based educational plans geared towards a child's developmental level but have learned through experience that all children are unique and special. At Bearwood Academy, we will always plan around our children's individual needs.

Programs
Outdoor Play
All children will have 45 minutes daily of outdoor play time. Students will enjoy playing on the swings, going down slides, and playing with our outdoor toys and equipment such as sensory tables, playground balls, push cars, bubbles and more! Playground includes dramatic play opportunities. Bearwood students also have the opportunity to participate in Soccer Shots classes in the afternoon. Additional playground time is scheduled for full time students.
Circle Time
All students will begin their school day with a group circle. Here students will sing and dance to a morning song, abc and math music, as well as sing and recite together familiar nursery rhymes. Students will also practice building positive relationships with their peers and how to stay safe in school. Toddlers and VPK students will finish their circle time with a positive morning message to help guide them throughout their day.
Curriculum
Bearwood Academy utilizes Frog Street for their Toddlers and VPK students. It is a researched based curriculum and approved by the Office of Early Learning. Frog Street teaches students to engage with their learning through multiple methods including literacy, tactile learning, small group instruction and discussion, music, indoor and outdoor play, and centers. It is a bilingual curriculum taught in English and Spanish.
Centers
Students learn best through play! At Bearwood Academy children will have a variety of educational centers to play in daily. All toddler and VPK students will have 60 minutes minimum of open centers time daily to explore their interest and learn along with their peers. Centers will follow the weekly theme along with our lesson to further their knowledge through multiple intelligences.
